Kashmiris To Observe Two-day Strike In IOK From Today

SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, a two-day shutdown will be observed from Wednesday (today).

Call for the two-day strike has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik against the Indian designs which tend to change the demography of the occupied territory by abrogating Articles 35-A and 370 of the Indian constitution.

Supreme Court of India has listed the pleas against the two articles on Wednesday and Thursday. The leaders in a statement issued in Srinagar, yesterday, said that people of Jammu and Kashmir would forcefully resist every effort by India to change the demography of the territory by rolling back the hereditary state subject laws by using its judiciary.

Articles 35-A and 370 are being contested in the Apex Court of India through Indian agents. The JRL also warned of a mass agitation against any adverse judgment by the top Indian court.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik made it clear that India would not be able to break the Kashmiris’ resolve for freedom through such tactics.

Earlier yesterday (Tuesday), Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred one more Kashmiri youth in Pulwama district yesterday. The youth identified as, Hilal Ahmad Rathar, was killed during a violent cordon and search operation in Ratnipora area of the district.

A residential house was also blasted by the troops during the operation. The killing triggered forceful anti-India demonstrations in the area. The authorities snapped mobile internet service and suspended train service in South Kashmir.

Thousands of mourners braving the biting cold thronged Ratnipora, the native village of martyr Hilal Ahmad Rathar to participate in his last rites. Multi-rounds of funeral prayers were held for the martyred youth. Hilal was buried amid high-pitched anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.

Moreover, on the same day, two Indian soldiers including a commando were killed and another was injured in an attack in the same area.

Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza during a visit to family members of a martyr in Arwani area of Islamabad district stressed the need for settlement of the Kashmir dispute to end the bloodshed.
