Khaqan Seeks Support from Fazl for Premiership

Islamabad (July 30, 2017): PML-N has started to accelerate efforts to gather collision partners support for new Prime Minister elections following the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif as Prime Minister, while a delegation of PML-N led by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JIU-F) chief Maulana Fazl Urrehman at his residence.

Both sides discussed regarding the elections for new prime minister in National Assembly as the Supreme Court had disqualified Nawaz Sharif following the JIT investigation into corruption allegations against him including his family.

Talking to media after the meeting, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that there is not a single corruption allegation against him, which is why he is not concerned regarding any reference filed against him.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that it is the responsibility of politicians to pull out the country from crisis, adding that Nawaz Sharif made important decision to sustain democracy. He said that PML-N and JUI-F adopt same stance for the country, adding that Khaqan is his old accomplice and it is his duty to contact all political parties for Khaqan’s support.

Abbasi said that neither the people, nor history will accept the Judiciary verdict. Earlier, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, in which both sides discussed over important Constitutional and legal matters.
