Khawaja Asif to Leave for NY to Attend UN Session Today

Islamabad (September 14, 2017): Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif will leave for New York to attend the 72nd annual session of the United Nations General Assembly today.

He said that military solution to Afghan issue will create more complications. Khawaja Asif said that there was no political role of India in Afghanistan. He said that India was investing in Afghanistan to act upon its evil designs against Pakistan. The foreign minister said that he would raise the issue before UN Security Council.

Khawaja Asif was of the view that all the three regional states  China, Iran and Turkey  acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in war against terrorism and backed its stance beyond expectations.

He said Pakistan decided to approach regional countries after US President Donald Trump announced his controversial new policy for South Asia.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif had visited Tehran and exchanged views with the Iranian leaders on the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and regional security scenario especially in the backdrop of new US strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia.

He held separate meetings with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif during his visit.

During the meeting with his Iranian counterpart Jawad Zarif, Pakistan and Iran agreed to enhance cooperation in establishing peace and security in Afghanistan through regional and multilateral political talks.After visiting Tehran on September 11, Khuwaja Asif quickly moved to Turkey on the very next day and hold talks with Turkish leadership on several crucial issues specially related to Afghanistan and peace in Pakistan.

Before his Tehran and Turkey trip, he had also visited Beijing last week and held talks with Chinese Leadership on various bilateral and regional issues.
