PESHAWAR: The three-day anti-polio drive is being kicked off all across Khyber Pakhtwankhwa province including Peshawar. Over 5.6 million children under the age of five will be administered anti-polio vaccine during the province-wide drive.
The vaccine will also be administered to Afghan refugees and at the 77 camps housing the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). A total of 17,767 teams are being formed to administer the vaccine. These include 15,092 mobile teams, 924 transit teams, and 159 roaming teams.
Stringent security arrangements are made for the anti-polio teams.
Over 1,036,309 children will be administered the vaccine in Peshawar for which 4,239 teams are being formed.
Meanwhile, a three-day anti-polio drive is also being launched in FATA. The drive is jointly supervised by the political administration, commissioners, and the aarmed forces.
Meanwhile, a three-day anti-polio drive also started in nineteen districts of Balochistan today. Over one million children upto five year of age will be administered anti-polio drops during the anti-polio vaccine drive. There will also be Polio teams at railway stations, bus stands and other public places to ensure administering anti-polio drops to every child. Special security measures have been taken to ensure security of polio teams.
