Kulsoom Leaves For London Just Hours Before Scrutiny of Nomination Papers

Lahore (August 17, 2017): Wife of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and PMLN’s proposed candidate in by-election in NA-120 constituency here has left for London just hours before the scrutiny of nomination papers at Election Commission Pakistan scheduled at 3 p.m. today.

Kulsoom Nawaz was to appear at the Election Commission today for the scrutiny of nomination papers today but after her departure for London, her lawyer, son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar, and covering candidate Hafiz Nauman will appear at the Commission on her behalf.

According to airport sources Kulsoom Nawaz left for London from Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore aboard national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines’ Flight PK-757. She was allotted Seat No. 19.It may be mentioned here Kulsoom Nawaz had to appear before the Returning Officer today at 3 p.m. to get her nomination papers scrutinized.It may be mentioned here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had raised objections at Kulsoom’s nomination papers. PTI’s candidate from NA-120 Dr. Yasmin Rashid raisingobjections that Kulsoom Nawaz was the Deputy Chairman of FZE company but like her husband she did neither revealed her salary nor provided details of assets she owns demanded that Kulsoom’s nomination papers should be rejected.PAT and PPP had raised objections that despite her UAE Aqama becoming public Kulsoom did not show that in her nomination papers.

Sources say that a total of 24 objections have been raised by the other candidates.

Meanwhile, the Returning Officer for NA-120 has accepted PTI candidate Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s nomination papers while PPP’s candidate Faisal Mir will appear before the Returning Officer at 3 p.m. today to get his nomination papers scrutinized.
