Lahore (September 12, 2018): The funeral prayers of former First Lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz will be held at Sharif Medical City at 5:00pm Friday evening, Pakistan Muslim League spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed.

In a twitter message of party’s official handle, Marriyum also confirmed that Rasm-e-Qul (the third day prayers for the departed soul) will be held on September 16 from Asr to Magrib prayers at Jati Umrah.

Begum Kulsoom, the wife of former prime minister Nawaz, passed away in London on Tuesday after battling cancer.

She was diagnosed with lymphoma last year, barely a month after Nawaz was removed from office by the Supreme Court, which ordered him to face trial in an anti-corruption court.
On the other hand, leaders and the workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) arriving at Jati Umra in large number to show their grief at the demise of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.
Funeral in London on Thursday
The funeral prayer of Kulsoom Nawaz will be offered in London on Thursday in Regiment Plaza mosque.

Former first daughter Maryam Nawaz said Tuesday night she was “deeply saddened” by the fact that was unable to be by the bedside of her ailing mother, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, during her last moments.
While speaking to before she was flown off from Rawalpindi to Lahore’s Jati Umra for her mother’s funeral, the PML-N leader said: “Today was extremely difficult after learning of my mother’s death.“It was extremely painful to know that I wasn’t by my mother’s side” as she breathed her last, she added. “I am deeply saddened.”
Earlier, President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif departed for London to bring back Begum Kulsoom’s body.
Shehbaz departed from the Allama Iqbal International Airport via a foreign airline.
The funeral prayers of ex-premier Nawaz Sharif’s wife, Begum Kulsoom, will be offered at the Regent Park mosque on Thursday after Zuhr and her body will be flown to Lahore after completion of legal formalities.
Her body has been moved to a mortuary near the Regent Park mosque.
The Sharif family has said that the former premier’s wife will be laid to rest on Friday in Jati Umra.

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz was born on March 29, 1950 in a Kashmiri family. Kulsoom passed his graduation from Islamia College Lahore and completed MA in Urdu poetry from Punjab University. She also received a Ph.D degree.
She had the honour of serving as the first lady thrice. She is the granddaughter of legendary wrestler Ghulam Mohammad Baksh known as ‘Gama Pahalwan’.She tied the knot with Nawaz Sharif on April 2, 1970. Kulsoom was blessed with two sons and two daughters. She became the First Lady of Pakistan on November 6, 1990.Begum Kulsoom Nawaz had to raise voice in favour of his husband, when then General Pervez Musharraf taken over the government from Nawaz Sharif on October 12, 1999 and the seasonal birds had left Nawaz alone. She quit the party leadership in 2002.In July 2017, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court. PML-N nominated Begum Kulsoom Nawaz as a candidate for NA-120 by polls. The seat fall vacant after the disqualification of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Unfortunately Begum Kulsoom Nawaz diagnosed with throat cancer and she left for London for surgery on August 17.

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz leaves behind four children, two daughters Asma and Maryam, two sons Hasan and Hussain.
