Lahore attack: CGS telephones Interior Minister and Punjab CM

LAHORE: Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar telephoned Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Cheif Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif in the wake of the suicide attack on census team in Lahore.

According to the details, all the respective representatives agreed to continue civil-military cooperation against terrorism. Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar emphasized to expedite operations under Operation Raddul Fasaad and better civil-military coordination on matters of national security.

Interior Ministry spokesperson said that initial investigation report on the blast has been submitted to Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. The initial investigation report declared the blast as suicide attack.  The spokes person said that 8 to 10 kilogram  explosive material was used in the explosion.

Two Army soldiers, an Air Force personnel and two civilians were martyred in the suicide attack. While 22 others received injuries in blast.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah confirmed it as a terrorist incident. “There was a threat alert, and in the last 10 days the threat alert in Lahore was repeated,” he said.

Sanaullah said, “But in the case of suicide attacks, unless the intelligence have prior information, it is difficult to prevent them from happening.”
