LAHORE: The death toll of cylinder blast in a van here along Bedian Road has risen to six. The dead include three soldiers of Pak army and three civilians. According to sources it was a suicide attack.
The martyred soldiers are identified as Owais, Abdullah, and Sajid.
Fifteen people were also injured in the blast of whom 9 have been shifted to General Hospital while the remaining six were taken to CMH. Four of the wounded are reported to be in critical condition.
According to eye sources the incident took place while census teams were leaving.
The scene of incident is being sealed and heavy contingent of security forces is posted there.
According to latest information a team conducting population census was targeted. According to eye witnesses a motorcyclist had rammed into the van.
Earlier one person was reported killed and 15 others were injured in cylinder blast here.
According to details the rescue teams have reached the scene of the blast and are rescue works are on.
A number of other vehicles also damaged by the blast.
Troops of Pak army has surrounded and cordoned off the scene of incident.
Emergency is being declared at General Hospital and investigations from all angles, particularly about the exact nature of the blast are underway.
The head and body parts of the suicide bomber are being found.
According to initial investigations it was a suicide attack in which 8-10 kilograms of explosives was used. The suicide attacker had small beard and long hairs and his head was found 40 feet away.
Security personnel are busy collecting evidences and proofs from around the scene of the deadly blast.
