LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday has asked authorities of Lahore zoo to submit a report until May 22 regarding the import of elephant.
As the hearing went underway, a lawyer of federal government informed LHC judge justice, Ameer Bhatti, that all legal procedures have been completed for the import of elephant.
The LHC judge remarked that the particular issue is so important and cannot be ignored.
The petitioner maintained that almost two years have been passed since the suzi elephant in Lahore Zoo has died but no efforts have been made by the Punjab government so far.
At a previous hearing held last month, Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti had ordered the government to issue the NOC without any further delay. However, the counsel for the petitioner told the court on Thursday that the order had not been complied with so far.
