LAHORE: Lawyers and traders have lodged protests and strikes in different cities across the country against controversial shooting at Sahiwal.
Lawyers mourned the multiple killings in the controversial action by Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) that killed four persons including three of family.
Lawyers belonging different courts boycotted activities over call of Punjab Bar Council. However, the Lahore High Court (LHC) continued its hearing as per regular schedule.
Lawyer community said that Sahiwal incident was tantamount to state terrorism while PBC demanded the government to immediate deliver justice to the affectees.
However, the strike resulted delay in proceedings of thousands of cases pending in different courts while some important cases were head by judges in their chambers.
Moreover, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Bar Council and Peshawar High Court Bar have observed complete strike against the incident and demanded the government to take appropriate steps.
Lawyer communities from Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh, Vihari, Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Burewala and Swat observed complete strike against the incident.
Trade centers were completely closed in Burewala following call of strike from traders’ association.
