LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday approved petition filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) seeking early hearing of petition challenging acquittal of former president Asif Ali Zardari in assets reference.
NAB Lahore has reopened an assets’ reference against former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. The petition stated that more evidences were found regarding involvement of the former president in the reference.
LHC’s Justice Qasim Khan approved the petition and fixed hearing on March 6.
It is noteworthy to mention here that Asif Ali Zardari was acquitted in possession of illegal assets’ by an accountability court in Rawalpindi in 2017. The reference was filed by the-them NAB chairman Saifur Rehman against Zardari.
