Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah on Friday directed Punjab Inspector General (IG) to arrest the culprit involved in the rape and murder of seven-year-old girl Zainab in 36 hours.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice ordered to utilize the entire police force to capture the accused. He also directed to submit report comprising of all the rape cases in Punjab.

Punjab IG who was summoned by the LHC on immediate basis also attended the hearing.
The chief justice inquired from the Punjab Inspector General Arif Nawaz, what became of the cases lodged of other similar events in Kasur, and wondered if those cases were even registered at all.
He remarked further that negligence in the Zainab case will not be tolerated as society is worried. The chief justice then gave the police chief 36 hours to nab the suspect(s).Nawaz informed the court that the police is working with complete honesty and assured that the suspect will be nabbed at all costs.
The chief justice also summoned the complete details of similar cases related to children in Punjab.
Zainab was kidnapped from Road Kot when her parents left for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. The girl was strangled to death after being raped. Police officers recovered her body from a garbage heap near Zaki Ada.
The incident sparked countrywide protests and riots while shutterdown strike was observed in Kasur as all the markets and educational institutions remained closed for two days.Opposition parties, including the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami, as well as the civil society have strongly condemned the tragedy and demanded exemplary punishment for the suspect(s).
PTI chairman Imran Khan came down hard on the provincial government over the incident.
“The parents of the seven-year-old Zainab are also demanding justice from the army chief and chief justice, not the Punjab police and provincial government. The police which is supposed to protect people is busy protecting one family,” said Imran.PAT chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri demanded the suspension of Punjab law minister and inspector general of police over the incident. “The IGP, law minister, and home secretary should be suspended with immediate effect,” he said, adding that the chief minister should also be summoned and suspended.
Chairman of PPP Central Punjab Qamar Zaman Kaira also expressed deep regret over the rape and murder and the killing of two protestors on Wednesday.
It is to be mentioned here that as many as 12 children have been killed after rape in Kasur in one year whereas police officers have killed three people involved in such criminal activities.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had also taken notice of the incident.
