Lahore (Sep 11, 2017): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday declared shifting of three sugar mills owned by the Sharif family to cotton growing region of South Punjab as illegal.
A division bench of LHC headed by Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah heard the petition against shifting of Sharif family-owned mills to the cotton growing region of South Punjab.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and JDW Sugar Mills owner Jahangir Tareen had challenged the shifting of the sugar mills Ittefaq, Haseeb Waqas and Chaudhry sugar mills.The court after hearing concluding arguments of the counsels of the petitioners and represents had reserved the verdict earlier this year.
Today the court pronounced its verdict, declaring the relocation as illegal.The court directed that the mills should be shifted back to the earlier location within three months.
Tareen in his petition had submitted the relocation of the mills to South Punjab region was done ion violation of earlier court orders and the government’s own relocation policy of 2015.
The LHC had reserved its verdict in the case in May this year after all concerned parties had concluded their arguments.
