Lahore High Court has issued order to include transvestites in the census list during the hearing of case pertaining to basic rights of transvestites.
In his petition transvestite Waqar Ali argues that transvestites have no basic rights as per the constitution and they are being treated partially and are also not included in population census.
In addition, the petitioner argues, that there is no column for transvestites in the national identity card which is a violation of basic rights.
The representative of Population Welfare Ministry told the court that the government has allocated a separate column for trnsvestites while Attorney General informed that transvestites will be a part of population census to be held in March.
