2nd T20: Pakistan Defeat S. Lanka By 2 Wickets, Clinch Series

Abu Dhabi: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by two wickets in the second Twenty20 international played in Abu Dhabi on Friday, to win the three-match series.

Shadab Khan was awarded with ‘Player of the Match’ for a top all round performance that included hitting the crucial winning runs.

Shadab Khan hit a last over six to give Pakistan a sensational two-wicket win in the second Twenty20 against Sri Lanka. Needing 12 off the final over, and eight from the last three balls, Shadab smashed Sri Lankan pacer Vikum Sanjaya for a six and then took a couple off the next delivery to help Pakistan chase down 125-run target.

Pakistan needed 125 runs to clinch the T20 series against Sri Lanka after another brilliant display of bowling.

 

Shoaib Malik was caught behind on a ball by Perera while Ahmed Shehzad was also caught on a ball by the same bowler.

 

Abu Dhabi (October 27, 2017): Medium-pace Faheem Ashraf ripped through the Sri Lankan batting line-up as he claimed three wickets in just as many balls, getting a hat-trick in the 19th over.

Sri Lanka were off to a steady start against Pakistan and kept the scoreboard ticking at a steady rate.

MD Gunathilaka and EMDY Munaweera looked to be establishing a stable partnership as Pakistan looked for its first breakthrough.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and sent Sri Lanka into bat in the second Twenty20 international in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Pakistan kept the same team which won the first match by seven wickets, also played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, on Thursday.

Sri Lanka also decided to keep the same combination as they look to level the three-match series.

The third and final match will be played in Lahore on Sunday.
