Nawaz Sharif Will Be Trialed In Open Court: Info Minister

Islamabad (July 18, 2018): Caretaker Information Minister Barrister Ali Zafar said that federal cabinet has decided to carry on the trial of Nawaz Sharif in open court.

While giving briefing about the decision taken in the today’s caretaker Federal Cabinet meeting earlier decided to conduct the trial of Nawaz Sharif in Jail due to security reasons.

Briefing about the FATA, caretaker Information Minister said that federal Cabinet took important decisions for FATA.

No sales tax on electricity will be taken from the people of FATA, Ali Zafar said.

Caretaker Information Minister said that the merger of FATA with KP was a good decision of the parliament.Federal Cabinet Allows Open Trial of Nawaz SharifEarlier today, Caretaker Federal Cabinet reversed its earlier decision to conduct corruption proceedings against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif inside Adiala jail.

The cabinet met under the chair of Interim Prime Minister Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk, it took up the matter of reversing the notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice as per the NAB Ordinance.

During the cabinet meeting, the interim interior minister gave a briefing to the cabinet on the country’s overall law and order situation with a special focus on security preparations for the July 25 election.

At present, the accountability court hearing the corruption cases against the former premier is waiting for directions from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) where Nawaz has challenged his conviction as well as sought a transfer of the cases to another judge.

The proceedings took place at the Federal Judicial Complex and not inside the jail.
