Shah Mehmood further added that some defeated elements in the general polls, want to harm democracy.

Referring to the formation of government in Punjab, Qureshi said that PTI is getting the majority of candidates in the province.

He also thanked Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Pervez Illahi.

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf claimed it will get the required number of seats to form the government in Punjab. In a statement to the media, PTI spokesman said four more candidates have pledged alliance to the party.

The total count of PTI’s seats in the provincial assembly will reach 148 by tonight, Naeemul Haq claimed. He further added that the party was in contact with other independent candidates in Punjab.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) will form an alliance with PTI.

A delegation of PML-Q is scheduled to meet PTI chief Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence in the federal capital later today. The alliance could add eight seats to PTI’s total — seven candidates of PML-Q and one independent candidate who joined the party earlier.

The support of at least 148 members is required for a party to have its chief minister elected in the province.

Four Successful Independents From Punjab Join PTI

Earlier on July 28, Four successful independent Punjab Assembly candidates announced to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as the party faces tough competition from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to form the government in the province.

PTI and PML-N are locked in a battle to form the next Punjab government after both failed to win an outright majority in the country’s biggest provincial assembly. The four independent candidates met party chief Imran Khan in Bani Gala and announced their decision of joining PTI.

The candidates who have joined the party include Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi of PP-204 (Khanewal 2), Muhammad Basharat Randhawa of PP 282 (Layyah 3), Syed Rafaqat Ali Gillani of PP-284 (Layyah 5) and Hanif Khan Pitafi of PP-289 (Dera Ghazi Khan).

Before the polls, ex-district president PTI Layyah Randhawa had quit the party after being denied tickets for contesting the election. While addressing the media after joining PTI again, he remarked: “My ticket was given to a corrupt man. We stand with Imran Khan’s vision which is fighting a war against corruption.”

Syed Rafaqat Ali Gillani shared that the change is here, adding that he will do whatever it takes for the betterment of the country.
