Karachi (April 22, 2018): Chief Minister Punjab and the PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday vowed to resolve issues of Karachi.
He was addressing media during his visit to MQM-Pakistan makeshift headquarters at Bahadurabad after meeting with MQM-P Pakistan leaders including its convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and others.
Shehbaz also addressed the persistent power issues of Sindh, mainly Karachi, during his speech, saying former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had decided in 2013 to restore uninterrupted power supply in Karachi.But, the PML-N president added, it has been some time since the city of lights has been standing dimmed.
“K-Electric is mainly responsible for the power crisis in Karachi,” he said. But the city should get uninterrupted power supply during Ramzan, Shehbaz added.
The PML-N president also spoke about the security situation of Karachi, saying peace in the city was essential for stable law and order across Pakistan. “Karachi is the face of Pakistan for the entire world.”
However, Shehbaz said, peace has been restored in Karachi, which can be gauged from the fact that 80% of extortion has ended. “The operation by Rangers [in Karachi] should be lauded.” Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif met the MQM-Pakistan delegation comprising of its convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhter, Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Khwaja Izhar ul Hassan and others and discussed issues pertaining to lack of resources for the Mayor Karachi and improving water, electricity and garbage issues in the metropolis.
Talking to media, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui termed the Karachi as the economic hub of the country and said that peace in Karachi would bring peace in the country.

He said that the PPP had done nothing for Karachi in past 10 years and had turned the city of lights into city of garbage and water woes due to its policies.
Shehbaz Meets ANP Leader Shahi Syed At Mardan House
Earlier in the day, Shehbaz spoke about the role of his party for the city saying PML-N will continue to work for Karachi’s prosperity.
Addressing a jirga at Mardan House, he shared that Awami National Party and PML-N will walk forward hand-in-hand to improve the city’s situation.
After arriving at Mardan House, Shehbaz also held a meeting with ANP’s Shahi Syed.
