Load Shedding is Due To Supply System of Distribution Companies

Islamabad (June 11, 2018): The senate committee on energy was told that the main reason behind load shedding was distribution companies, who are facing problems in electricity supply.

Senator Fida Mohammed chaired the meeting of standing committee reviewed the outstanding problem.

Secretary power division Yousaf Naseem Khokhar briefed the meeting that zero load shedding is almost impossible, another reason of load shedding is Kunda system. PEPCO officials told the meeting that feeders which have 10 percent losses are facing three hours load shedding, where as few cities are witnessing 12 hours load shedding due to losses.

Secretary power division said distribution companies are responsible of supplying, where as the financial condition of Hyderabad electric supply company (HESCO), Peshawar electric supply company (PESCO), Sukkar electric supply company (SEPCO) and Quetta electric supply company (QESCO) is worst.He stated that power division does not have force to end kunda system. It had written letter to chief ministers of four provinces but they did not respond positively, so the last option was to privatize distribution companies.

Nooman Wazir said that except the  privatization of distribution companies’ review those feeders which have high losses.Peshawar electric supply company (PESCO) chief admitted that kunda system is on extremely high level, PESCO has 992 feeders and 600 feeders have 50 percent losses.
