NEW DELHI: Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha) on Tuesday unanimously passed a bill proposing to increase the powers of NIA in the occupied valley of Kashmir.
According to Indian media, the Lok Sabha has unanimously approved the bill with 278 votes while just six members opposed the bill. According to the approved bill Indian forces can arrest any Hurriyat Conference leader under fake cases and new courts will trial the Kashmiri leadership.
Criticizing the bill Congress leader Manesh Tawari said that the government has turned Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) into a police state after passing the amended NIA bill 2019.
The bill has given the powers to a high court judge that he can declare any court as NIA court and that court can trial any Hurriyat leader for the fake cases registered against them.
