ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed Lt Gen Nadeem Raza as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee with effect from the 27th of this month.

It may be recalled that notification for reappointment of General Qamar Javed Bajwa as Chief of Army Staff for another tenure has already been issued on 19 August of this year.
Lt Gen Nadeem Raza had in August last year became the Chief of General Staff. Most of those who reached this office before were from the infantry and he too is from the infantry’s Sindh Regiment.
Moreover, out of the last 16 officers getting the four-star general designation, 10 had previously served as CGS.
Gen Raza has also commanded 10 Corps in Rawalpindi.
The incumbent chairman, Gen Zubair Hayat, is retiring on Nov 27. He has begun making the ritual farewell calls.
