Rawalpindi (October 10, 2018): Lieutenant General Asim Munir had been appointed the new director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), announced ISPR on Wednesday.
Lt Gen Muneer’s appointment comes after former DG ISI Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar retired on October 1.

Traditionally, the coveted slot of DG ISI, considered the most powerful after the army chief’s post, goes to a three-star general with a considerable experience of the field.The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) also announced other key appointments of lieutenant generals which are as follows:
Lt Gen Azhar Saleh Abbasi has been appointed as Chief of Logistics Staff, GHQ, Lt Gen Nadeem Zaki, Commander Mangla
Corps, Lt Gen Shaheen Mazher, Commander Peshawar Corps, Lt Gen Abdul Aziz, Military Secretary GHQ, Lt Gen
Muhammad Adnan, Vice Chief of General Staff (VCGS) (B) and Lt Gen Waseem Ashraf has been appointed as IG Arms.
Earlier on September 28, Six Major Generals of Pak Army promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General, a statement from DG ISPR said.
The promoted General Officers include: Major General Shaheen Mazhar, Major General Nadeem Zaki Manj, Major General Abdul Aziz, Major General Asim Munir, Major General Adnan, Major General Waseem Ashraf.
