Malik To Become First Pakistan to Appear in Six Champion Trophy

Karachi (June 3, 2017): Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik is going to be first ever Pakistani to feature in six Champion Trophy tournaments.

The seasoned all-rounder has the honor of most appearances for Pakistan in CC Champions Trophy,  15 matches to be exact.

Malik first appeared in 2004 Edition of Champion Trophy. He had scored some 326 runs and taken 10 wickets in the show-piece event.

Malik has played at the 2002, 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2013 editions of the Champions Trophy and is all set to feature in CT17.

The 35-year-old also hit Pakistan’s highest score at the tournament with his knock of 128 against archrivals India in 2009.

Malik has also taken more catches than any other Pakistan player with eight in 15 games.

Malik made his Pakistan debut in 1999, has appeared in 247 ODIs, and scored 6,711 runs at a healthy strike rate of 81.65.

In the absence of the retired Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan, Malik will shoulder the responsibility of making runs. In April, he scored an unbeaten 101 to help Pakistan beat the West Indies and secure a series victory.
