Islamabad (July 5, 2017): Prime Minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif will appear before the six-member Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing Sharif family’s offshore holdings at Federal Judicial Academy today.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said she would appear before the JIT, following in the footsteps of her father who she said has always followed the rule of law.
In a series of Tweets a day before her appearance before the panel investigating the corruption allegations against Sharif family, the prime minister’s daughter said of his father: “He has seen and been through the most testing times, in the 30+ years of his political career, acing out his rivals.

She said she has told her father that she would neither cower down, nor yield to pressure and nothing would deter her.

Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, on Tuesday said that she “saw her father’s eyes filled with concern and apprehension over her appearance before the Panama case joint investigation team (JIT)”.

The investigation team, constituted by the Supreme Court to probe businesses and financial dealings of Sharif family, has summoned the first daughter on Wednesday.
Maryam, in a series of tweets on Tuesday said that her father has been through testing times in more than 30 years of his political career, acing out his rivals.
“Yet as an affectionate and protective father, I saw his eyes filled with concern and apprehensions over his daughter’s appearance before JIT,” she stated on social media.

She added that she reassured her father and told him that “I am your daughter, trained by you, [I] will neither cower down, nor yield to pressure and nothing will deter me from taking up the cudgels against transgression and injustice”.

The first daughter also said that she would appear before the investigation team tomorrow and follow the rule of law like her father has always done.The Panama Papers case Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has summoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz on July 5.
The summons, dated June 25, 2017, has also asked the respondent to bring forth relevant documents related to the Sharif family’s financial assets.
The JIT, which resumed work today after taking a day’s break for Eid on Monday, has asked all three siblings to appear before it at 11am on their respective call dates. The JIT works out of the Federal Judicial Academy in Islamabad.Maryam will become the sixth member of the Sharif family to appear before the high-profile probe team, formed on May 6 in light of the Supreme Court’s April 20 judgment in the Panama Papers case.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appeared before the JIT on June 15. Following his questioning, the premier addressed the media while reading from a written speech and claimed that every penny his family has earned is accounted for.The special bench of the Supreme Court overseeing the JIT’s work has already directed the investigators to submit their final report on July 10.
The direction was given after the JIT submitted its third and second-last progress report to the bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh.
Security Plan
The stringent security arrangements made around the Judicial academy for tomorrow on the appearing of Maryam Nawaz before JIT. More than 2500 security personnel will be deployed around the Judicial academy while security personnel directed to reach their duties at sharp 6 am.
The traffic police has also issued the traffic plan for the day while heavy police contingency will also be deployed on the roads leading to judicial academy.
