Maryam Nawaz’s Physical Remand Extended for Another Seven Days

LAHORE: An accountability court of Lahore on Wednesday extended the physical remand of PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz and her cousin Yousuf Abbas for another seven days in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) presented the PML-N leader and her cousin before the court under strict security arrangements taken outside the judicial complex.

The NAB prosecutor told the court that Maryam was appointed as a director of M/s Chaudhry Sugar Mills in 1992 and she held the post till 1997.

Rejecting the NAB prosecutor’s request, Maryam’s lawyer told the court, the investigative report was contrary to the truth.

“In 1992, all the properties were under Nawaz Sharif’s name. During 1992 to 1999, Sharif transferred the properties under the children’s name. Maryam Nawaz has been arrested on political grounds,” he said.

After hearing the arguments, the court extended the remand of Maryam and Yousuf for seven days.
