Maryam Sees SC Review Verdict Under Immense Pressure

Lahore (November 7, 2017): The daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz strongly diatribe on Supreme Court detailed verdict of Nawaz Sharif’s review petition and alleged that the ruling came under intensive influence and raised several questions regarding its credibility.

In her reaction on social media website Twitter she lashed out at apex court judgment and claimed the institutions credibility was put on stake just for taking revenge from Nawaz Sharif.

” It shows that not Nawaz but justice itself on target and decision was based on objective rather law,” she said adding that her name was not mentioned in first verdict of the SC but her name included in detailed verdict.

“Mentioning my name in second decision court punished me for my diatribe on it,” she said.

She alleged, apparently targeting judges, that the decision was announced on the day when;

  • A judge asked Nawaz Sahrif’s opponent to file non-maintainable petition against him
  • Disclosed that JIT was formed on a secret Whatsapp
  • Judges passed remarks of godfather and Sicilian Mafia by showing their discrimination
  • The judges become counsel for opponents after lack of arguments by their lawyer

She said that it was the sixth decision of the same case as it was seen first time when a seat of justice spewing venom.Earlier, The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued a detailed verdict rejecting review petitions filed by the Sharif family in the Panama Papers case.

No error has been identified in the Panama case, which could be reviewed and the accountability court is free to make a decision on the basis of nature of evidence, the verdict read. The trial court has the authority to reject weak evidence.

“The facts about disqualification of Nawaz Sharif as prime minister were uncontroversial,” the apex court observed in its verdict, maintaining that it could not be said the decision surprised Nawaz Sharif.

The 23-page verdict stated that observation given in the Panama case verdict are of temporary nature. “The accountability court is free to review evidence in accordance with the law,” it read.
