ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued notices to respondents of a petition filed against the release of accused in the murder of Sipah-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) chief Maulana Azam Tariq Murder case.
A divisional bench of IHC consisting Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani heard the petition filed against the release of accused in the SSP chief murder case.
Counsel of petitioner advocate Mazhar Javeed said that Sabtain Kazmi an accused in the SSP chief murder case, remained absconder from March 6, 2003, to May 11, 2017.
The petitioner contended before the court that the trial court did not record statements of the petitioner and witnesses before granting acquittal to Sibtain Kazmi adding that the trial court had decided the case in haste.
The counsel argued that the accused Sibtain Kazmi was nominated in first Information Report (FIR) against the murder of five persons including the SSP chief.
The IHC adjourned the hearing for indefinite period while serving notices to acquitted accused Sibtain Kazmi and federal government.
