KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court on Monday issued non-bailable warrant for arrest of those accused in May 12, 20017 mayhem case, who are still at large.
The court while issuing non-bailable arrest warrant for the absconding accused directed police to produce them in the court on next hearing.
Earlier, Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar during the hearing of his bail application pleaded the court to direct police to speed up the process. He said that he was behind the bars for the last three months due to the slackness and laziness of police. He said that his name was not in any of the four FIR he was booked in.
He said that injustice was being meted out to him. He complained that despite the fact that his name was not in the original FIRs, yet the court was delaying decision on his bail application.
The judge remarked that he had sought the case file from the investigation officer and before going through the case file she could not grant him bail. The judge also advised Waseem Akhtar not to be emotional. Upon this Waseem Akhtar said that he was behind the bars in distressful condition for over three month.
