ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting in Islamabad today to review preparations for the federal budget for next fiscal year.
Prime Minister’s Advisor on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Commerce Advisor Abdul Razak Dawood, Minister of State for Revenue Hammad Azhar, Governor State Bank of Pakistan Dr. Raza Baqir, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Shabbar Zaidi and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
They discussed budgetary proposals during the meeting.
During the meeting, the economic team briefed the prime minister about the budget proposals. The team also apprised Imran Khan about taxes and targets in the federal budget 2019-20.
Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister directed the team to facilitate the lower class in the budget, adding that the budget should be people-friendly keeping in view economic stability.
The federal budget for the next fiscal year will be presented in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
Prime Minister s Advisor on Finance Dr. Hafeez Shaikh will present the budget emphasizing on austerity, fiscal discipline, external sector management and protection of the poor.
In this connection, President Dr Arif Alvi has summoned the session of National Assembly to meet at Parliament House in Islamabad tomorrow at four in the afternoon.
