Met Office Downgrades Heatwave Alert for Karachi

KARACHI: Good news for Karachiites as Pakistan Meteorological Department on Saturday downgraded the heatwave alert “as mild heatwave” with hot and humid weather likely to prevail in the city of lights.

The Met Office in its fresh announcement said that maximum temperature may range in 38-40ºC for the next few days.

According to Met office, hot and dry weather likely to prevail in most parts of the country for the next 24 hours while Malakand, Hazara, Gilgit Baltistan and some parts of Kashmir are expected to receive heavy rainfall with high waves.During the past 24 hours, some parts of Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Kashmir while Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, DG Khan, Peshawar, Kohat and Gilgit Baltistan have received heavy rainfall with lightning.

The most-highest temperature recorded: Turbat 43ºC, Shaheed Benazirabad 42 ºC and 41ºC  in Jacobabad, Sukkur, Rohri, Mirpurkhas and Mithi.
