Narowal (April 01, 2018): Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said only a sustaining democracy can ensure robust economy and development of the country.
Addressing businessmen and journalists in Narowal, he said there is a need to allow democracy and politics functioning for progress of the country.
He said PML-N government inherited a devastated country when it came to power in 2013. the country’s economy was on knees and the country was in grip of terrorism and energy crisis. However, we made prudent decisions to revive the economy.
The Minister said construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam will start this year. He said for the first time government purchased land for the dam at a cost of over one hundred billion rupees.
He said now security can be achieved through stronger economy and not weapons.
The country’s economy would crash if the prevailing political instability continues to exist, said Ahsan Iqbal. He said that the country would no longer be able to carry on with investment projects if that happens.
He added political instability in the country was being created to hinder Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz from gaining victory in the upcoming general elections.
