Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shehryar Khan has said that Misbahul Haq can be asked to postpone retirement for some time.
In an interview, Khan said that Misbah’s advise will be given weight regarding appointment of his successor.
He revealed that Misbahul Haq wanted to retire after England tour but he postponed his retirement on his request.
He said that if the national team performed well in the upcoming New Zealand and Australia tours, Misbahul Haq may be asked to postpone his retirement plan for some more time.
He said that no decision had been taken regarding his successor as yet, however his input will be key in appointment of his replacement.
He said that head coach Mickey Arthur had asked for appointment of fast bowler as bowling coach, therefore two-year contract was given to Azhar Mehmood.
He said that Azhar Mehmood had worked with the national team and his experience of working with different leagues will also help bowlers.
Regarding Hafeez, Khan said that in recent days his batting performance deteriorated. He said Hafeez wanted to get his bowling action cleared. He said that he can come back to the team by clearing his bowling action and therefore he was paced in A category in central contract.
The PCB chairman said that if he could not clear his bowling action, then his come back in the team will be difficult.
