Missing Karachi University Prof Ismail Returns Home

Karachi (October 4, 2017): A professor of Karachi University Dr. Muhammad Ismail who was gone missing 18 days ago has returned back home today.

Dr. Professor Muhammad Ismail had gone missing 18 days ago but no action was taken by the administration of Karachi University and no case was registered in this connection till yesterday.

Dr Muhammad Ismail of the university’s Department of Islamic Studies was picked up some plain clothes persons apparently intelligence agency personnel, his wife Amna Ismail had said. “Some persons came to our house in the early hours of September 15,” she had told reporters.She had also said that her my husband was kidnapped by the plain clothes men who allowed him to take only his identity card with him.”

Amna had said that though she had informed the University administration about her husband being whisked away by law-enforcement personnel the officials of the KU reluctant to pursue the case.She had said that she had also sent a letter to the Vice Chancellor of Karachi University and the dean of the Department of Islamic Studies but did not get a reply response.

The University of Karachi’s security adviser, Mohammad Zubair, confirmed that the administration had received Amna’s letter about her husband’s abduction. He also said that the university administration was cooperating with Dr Muhammad Ismail’s family and making efforts for bringing him back.
