Modi Govt’s army deployment in West Bengal, causes ruckus in parliament

NEW DELHI: The deployment of army in West Bengal by the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi caused ruckus India’s Rajia Sabih parliament with opposition members demanding explanation over what they called a sensitive matter.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of WestBengal province of India Mamta Bannerjee has said that she would not leave heroffice for home until the army is called back.

The deployment the army without informing the West Bengal provincial government by the Modi government sparked massive protests.

The former chief minister of Indian state of Uttar Pradesh Mayawati protesting army deployment at the parliament called the move an excess against the chief minister of West Bengal because deployment is akin to attack on Bannerjee’s authority and powers.

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the central government has to clarify its position over the the serious matter.

Bannerjee called army deployment an act of political vendetta. Addressing many press conferences throughout the night she strongly condemned the central government. She stayed at west Bengal Secretariat throughout the night.

Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar tried to play down the issue calling army deployment a routine thing.

Meanwhile, rejecting Mamta’s allegations Indian army said that this a a regular exercise of the army and no one should be scared of it. Army is withdrawn from many areas after Mamta’s strong protest.
