Peshawar (May 29, 2017): People angered by prolonged load shedding took to street in Peshawar and blocked Ring Road in protest against power outages.
Residents of Achini area took to Ring Road against prolonged and unannounced load shedding in sizzling weather. The people burnt tires and blocked the road by placing barricades and boulders on the road.

The protesters were being led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Fazal Elahi, who has been very active in recent days against load shedding and has been leading protest against Peshawar Electric Power Supply Company (Pesco).
Later, Pesco officials held negotiation with the protesters lead by MPA Fazal Ealhi. On assurance by Pesco officials that no unannounced load shedding would be carried out in future, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
With the rise in mercury and advent of Ramzan, prolonged power load shedding has hit the city triggering violent protests.
A few days ago, protesters led by PTI MPA Fazal Elahi took over a grid station in Hazarkhwani area of the city and forcefully opened the closed the grid station. The same day, protesters also stormed another grid station in the area during protest against load shedding .
A day later, the residents perturbed by the prolonged and unannounced load shedding by the power utility, again stormed the Hazarkhwani grid station.
