KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Monday strongly reacted to Saleem Shehzad’s arrest, demanding his immediate release.
In a statement issued here, MQM-P said that Saleem Shehzad was a political worker and if he was wanted by any law enforcement agency in any case he should be given ample opportunity to defend himself.
It added that fake cases were instituted against Shehzad, which should be dropped and he be released forthwith.
It is to be mentioned here that on August 22 last year, when Farooq Sattar-led MQM leaders announced to distance themselves from MQM founder Altaf Hussain, Shehzad had also announced to side with MQM-P.
On Monday he returned after ending 24-years long self-imposed exile. Upon arrival at Karachi Airport, SSP Malir Rao Anwar arrested Shehzad from airport in the case of facilitating terrorists’ treatment at Dr Asim’s Ziauddin Hospital.
