Karachi (February 11, 2018): Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan Rabita Committee (RC) has appointed Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui as new convener of the party on Sunday.

Sources said that the Rabita Committee has convened general workers meeting at Bahadurabad today and asked all the party activists to reach at the meeting’s venue.

Earlier, the Rabita Committee removed its convener Dr Farooq Sattar. While addressing a press conference, senior party leader Kanwar Naveed Jameel announced to remove Farooq Sattar as the party’s convener.“The Rabita Committee has decided to remove Dr Farooq Sattar as the party’s convener,” said Kanwar Naveed Jameel on Sunday evening.

Jameel said, “Farooq Sattar breached the Rabita Committee’s trust. He changed the party’s constitution without bringing it into the knowledge of the Rabita Committee.”He further alleged that the former party chief had taken, in his control, the rights to select and remove party members without informing the coordination committee.

“We gave in to all of Farooq’s demands yet he was unwilling to lead the party,” Jameel said and added, “But he is still a member of our party.”

Earlier, Farooq Sattar expressed concerns over the approval of nomination papers, submitted by Rabita Rommittee in the election commission for upcoming senate elections.

While talking to journalist outside ECP office, Farooq Sattar said how a returning officer can accept the nomination papers without a letter issued by party’s head. He said that RC held meetings without his approval.Farooq Sattar said that he could restrict Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui under the section c of the party’s constitution.

It is pertinent to mention here that the ECP approved the RC nomination papers signed by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.During scrutiny of nomination papers before the provincial election commissioner, MQM-P’s Barrister Farogh Naseem said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement–Pakistan (MQM-P) constitution allowed RC to issue Senate tickets.

Barrister Nasim, who is also Rabita Committee’s nominee for Senate election, read party’s constitution before election commission officials and said, “It’s Rabitta Committee’s prerogative to take such decisions.”
