Peshawar (October 12, 2017): Peshawar district administration has refused to retrain Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from holding its scheduled public meeting for Friday in connection with the NA-4 Peshawar by-election.
The returning officer for the by-polls on National Assembly constituency of NA-4, Peshawar-IV, had barred Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan from holding a public meeting in the constituency, asking the district administration not to allow the party to hold the meeting.

The RO had said that the public meeting was a violation of ECP code of conduct.
However, the district administration in its response said that as the public meeting is scheduled to be held at Lundi Akhoon Ahmed area, which did not fall in NA-4, the ban is not applicable.The administration in its letter to RO said that as the area where the public meeting is going to be organized in NA-2 not in NA-4.
The administration said that the ban did not apply on October 13 public meeting.
It is to be mentioned here that the district returning officer had written a letter to the deputy commissioner Peshawar directing him to not allow the scheduled public gathering in the NA-4 limits as there was ban on such events in the constituency.On Monday, the returning officer had ordered withdrawal of transfers of police officials in the provincial capital, following which the city police chief on Tuesday announced to withdraw his earlier order. The ECP has also ordered to withdraw transfers and postings of several administrative secretaries as well.
