NA-53: Three Candidates Withdraw in PTI Favour

Islamabad (October 12, 2018): The path of victory in NA-63 Islamabad seat has been cleared for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) after the withdrawal of three independent candidates on Friday.

According to details, on the last day of the by-election campaign, three independent candidates withdrew their names in favour of PTI that has considered a big success for the party to clinch the seat.

All three independent candidates took their decision after the meeting with PTI candidate Ali Nawaz Awan. These independent candidates Nasir Muneer, Zubair Gujjar and Muhammad Saeed were contesting election with the symbols of Jeep, Rifle and Chair respectively.From NA-53 Islamabad, Imran had defeated former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. The PTI chief had received 92,891 votes while the PML-N leader managed to get 44,314 votes.

Imran secured five National assembly seats, however, he had to left four of them including NA-53 as per law.

Four Other Seats 

From NA-243 Karachi, Imran had defeated his opponents from MQM-P Ali Raza Abidi with a heavy margin, where the former got 91,358 votes, while the latter only managed to receive 24,082 votes.From his home constituency in Mianwali, NA-95, Imran defeated PML-N candidate Obaidullah Shadikhel. The PTI candidate won with 162,499 votes, while his opponent bagged merely 49,505 votes.

The toughest competition to Imran came from Lahore constituency NA-131 where he was up against PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique.
