NA Passes Resolution To Include Senators in Poll Probe Committee

Islamabad (October 03, 2018): The National Assembly (NA) on Wednesday passed a resolution pertaining to inclusion of members of Senate in a special committee to probe alleged rigging in general elections.

As the National Assembly session started with Speaker Asad Qaiser in chair, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan moved a resolution pertaining to inclusion of Senate members in a special committee to probe alleged rigging in general elections.

The motion stated that there would be 30 members in the committee of which ten would be from Senate and 20 members would be from National Assembly.

The minister said that 50 percent members would be from the treasury benches and 50 percent from the opposition benches.He said that it has been agreed to bring change in composition of the committee and Senate is being given representation in it.

The committee chairman would be from the treasury benches, he said adding that the government has fulfilled its promise to investigate into allegations regarding election rigging which the previous government did not.

Later. the National Assembly passed a motion for amendment in the composition of committee announced to probe the charges of election rigging.
