ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday arrested former secretary Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), Shahid Rafi in Rental Power Case.
According to details, the anti-graft watchdog will produce Shahid Rafi before Accountability Court tomorrow (Saturday) to get the physical remand.
Former secretary Wapda has been arrested on the statement of already arrested suspect Laiq Ahmed.
Earlier in March, An accountability court also issued arrest warrants for former chairman Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), Tariq Hameed, in a rental power reference.
On April 15, an Accountability Court announced to indict Former prime minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and other accused in the Rental Power Project scam on April 29.
It must be noted that former prime minister Ashraf has also been accused of misusing his authority during his tenure as the minister for water and power to get approval from the Economic Coordination Committee of the cabinet for an increase in the down payment to the rental power companies from 7 to 14 per cent, amounting to about Rs22 billion.
