KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has completed inquiry against Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani and has recommended permission from Chairman NAB to file corruption reference against Agha Siraj.
The board was apprised that the suspect had accumulated assets beyond known sources of income worth Rs1.6 billion “much beyond his declared assets”, said NAB spokesperson.
The NAB Karachi also made a recommendation to Chairman NAB for approval of Supplementary Reference against Senator Kamran Michael
The PML-N leader Kamran Michael is accused of receiving a bribe of amount Rs 110 million through bank accounts of his friends and benamidars, for the illegal sale of plots of KPT Cooperative Housing Society.
In another corruption case of PIA, a complaint was recommended for approval of formal inquiry against PIA. According to details cited by the press release, an ATR 42-500 airplane was “illegally” grounded by PIA’s senior management in April 2014 which resulted in a loss to the national flag-carrier to the tune of millions of rupees.
“PIA awarded illegal agreement to a private logistics company M/s Leisure Cargo for utilisation of its cargo space for three years from 2016 to 2019 at low and uncompetitive rates for extending illegal favour to the company. It suffered a violation of approval of Board and agreement was tampered which led to a loss to PIA of millions of dollar,” said press release.
