LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday commenced investigation against three educators of Punjab University over alleged corruption and illegal appointments.
The probe was initiated against assistant professor Aisha Ashfaq (Mass Communication Department), assistant professor Abdul Khaliq (Hailey College) and Professor Shahid Kamal (Statistics Department).
A notice was sent to PU registrar Dr Khalid Khan to provide complete details of the educators including personal file, appointment file, professional experience and result sheet issued by the selection board.
The anti-corruption watchdog also summoned details of syndicate meeting held on August 8 – 2014 and increment orders released by former vice chancellor Mujahid Kamran.
NAB sources said that illegal appointments and educators with fake degrees were given employments during former VC Mujahid Kamran’s tenure. Aisha Ahsan was appointed before completion of her studies and she was illegally awarded a scholarship, sources added. Moreover, Shahid Kamal and Abdul Khaliq were facing charges of misusing authority.
