NAB Ref: AC To Resume Sharifs’ Trial Today

Islamabad (March 29, 2018): The accountability court will resume the hearing of NAB references against the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members in Avenfield properties and Flagship Investment today.

The cross-examination of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Additional Director Wajid Zia, who headed the probe into the Sharif family’s assets during the Panama Papers case, resumed on Thursday at the accountability court conducting corruption proceedings against former premier Nawaz Sharif and his family.Khawaja Haris, counsel for Nawaz, resumed cross-examination of the witness in the Avenfield properties reference – one of three filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in light of the Supreme Court’s Panama Papers case judgment last year.

Yesterday, the former prime minister had appeared before the AC to attend the proceeding of the Avanfield properties reference filed by NAB against the Sharif family. The counsel of Sharif cross examined the witness of the Avanfield reference Wajid Zia and other witnesses. Later the judge adjourned the hearing till today.Image result for Wajid ziaAfter appearing before the court, Nawaz Sharif said that the remarks made by chief justice shouldn’t have been made and if the prime minister deems necessary then he could ask for justification on it.

Talking to media while going for attending the accountability court hearing, the former premier said that the meeting of prime minister and chief justice has not hurt his narrative for the respect of vote and domain of institutions and would continue to raise voice over sanctity of constitution and vote.

He said that he even remained silent during the remarks made by the apex court judge Justice Azmat Saeed Shaikh who said that Nawaz should knew that there has been a space in Adiala prison for him.

“The institutions who conspires with other institutions should now stop such practices,” he said adding that every institution should work within its domain and no one should interfere in others domain.
