Islamabad (October 24, 2017): The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday submitted progress report on references against Sharif family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to Justice Ijazul Ahsan, the Supreme Court judge monitoring the references.
The report was presented to the judge in his chamber in Supreme Court.
The report comprises details about the indictment of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
The report has details of the process initiated for declaring Nawaz’s son Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz as proclaimed offender.The details regarding freezing of Dar’s assets by NAB are also a part of the report. Furthermore, decree of the accountability court and the testimonies recorded against Ishaq Dar till date have also been mentioned.
Another report concerning the security to NAB prosecutors was separately submitted to Justice Ijazul Ahsan in which it has been stated that the prosecutors are provided with security as per court’s orders. Police and Frontier Corps (FC) officials are appointed on the security of NAB lawyers and investigation officers, it added.It is to be mentioned here that the Supreme Court in its July 28, 2017 judgment while directing NAB to file corruption references against Sharif family and Finance Minister Dar appointed Justice Ejazul Ahsan as monitoring judge to oversee the proceeding of the reference in the accountability court.
