Illegal Road Case: NAB Summons Nawaz Sharif Today

Lahore (May 20, 2018): The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has re-summoned former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today for allegedly misusing his authority for illegal construction of a road leading to his residence in Jati Umra, Raiwind.

According to the details, Nawaz Sharif will appear before NAB Lahore at 11am today.

 According to NAB, Nawaz Sharif is accused of issuing “illegal direction” in 1998 to construct a road to Jati Umra, Raiwand for personal benefit, Nawaz Ordered the concerned authorities to enhance the width of the road from 20 to 24 feet, which increase the cost of the road.“The investigation has revealed Nawaz Sharif being the then Prime Minister illegally convened a meeting on March 15, 1998 regarding construction of a road from Adda Plot to Sundar Mull by utilizing funds of the Zila Council Lahore for your personal benefit.”

The notice further says: Because of illegal directions of Nawaz Sharif, the Zila Council Lahore had to drop various other projects of public welfare at the cost of the said project in connivance with Shahbaz.The reference pertains to the alleged illegal construction of a two-way road from Raiwind to the Sharif family home in the year 2000. The construction of the road caused a loss of Rs125 million to the national exchequer.

It is pertinent to mention that NAB had summoned Nawaz Sharif on 21 April but he could not appear before the NAB because he was in London.
