Lahore (August 22, 2017): Issuing the third time the NAB (National Accountability Bureau) Lahore has summoned ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, sons Hussain and Hussain, daughter Maryam Safdar, and her husband Capt (r) Safdar at its office today.
NAB has also summoned federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for enquiry today.
It may be mentioned here that NAB had also issued notices to Nawaz Sharif and his two sons earlier but none of them had appeared before it. Nawaz has filed a review application at the Supreme Court over 5-0 judgment of the larger bench of the apex court which declared him disqualified.
The counsel of Nawaz family has also informed NAB that his clients would not appear before it till the apex court decides review application.
NAB authorities say that if the members of Sharif family do not appear before NAB today the report will be submitted to the Supreme Court which could issue arrest orders for Nawaz and his family members.
President of state-owned National Bank of Pakistan Saeed Ahmad and chairman of Sugar Mills Association Javed Kayani had appeared before NAB Lahore yesterday as summoned. NAB Lahore completed probe in money laundering case from both of them.
It may be mentioned here that the meeting of the PMLN leaders chaired by Naaz Sharif yesterday at his estate in Raiwind yesterday discussed a number of issues including the prevalent political situation in the country, NAB references against the Sharif family, and the by-election in NA-120 Lahore scheduled to be held on September 17.
According to sources, the party leaders had asked Nawaz Sharif to take unflinching stand up for the supremacy of the law.
