Najam Sethi Decides To Send Legal Notice To PCB

Sports Desk (October 28, 2018): Former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi on Sunday dismissed the cricket board’s report on details of money spent during his term and decided to send legal notice to PCB. 

A day earlier, the cricket board issued details of expenses and benefits of PCB chairmen from 2014 to Sept 30, 2018. As per the details, Sethi spent over Rs70 million during his four years as PCB chairman.

However, Sethi in a tweet said, “Clearly motivated by new mafia at PCB. Distortion of facts and figures. This defamation will not go unchallenged.”

According to a document released by the PCB, Najam Sethi pocketed Rs70.19 million during his tenure from 2014 to 2018.

The former PCB chairman received Rs 10.5 million under Pakistan Super League (PSL) allowance, while Rs8.3 million were received under car, fuel, personal security and driver expenses.Sethi also pocketed Rs20.36 million under foreign tours, while received Rs900,000 for fuel of his car.

On the other hand, Shehryar Khan as PCB chairman pocketed Rs10.94 million and Rs8 million had spent on the 80-year-old board chairman.

Sethi was nominated to the Board of Governors of the PCB (as per the Pakistan Cricket Board Constitution of 2014 approved by the ICC and Supreme Court of Pakistan) by ousted premier Nawaz Sharif from 2014-2017 and then again from 2017- 2020 by former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
