Islamabad (December 17, 2018): Accountability Court has decided to release a final verdict over Nandipur Power Project after wrapping up Flagship and Investment References against Former Premier Nawaz Sharif. Hence, in today’s hearing of power project case, next hearing of the case was adjourned till January 17, 2019.
According to details, an Accountability Court in Islamabad heard the infamous Nandipur Power Project case with Dr. Babar Awan present before the court.

The court decided in today’s hearing session to deal with this case after ruling a final verdict over references against the PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif.
Earlier on November 26, Accountability Court Islamabad adjourned the hearing till December 17 (today).
On August 8, this year, the Supreme Court had reopened Nandipur Power case.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar asked PML-N leader Khawaja Asif, “Why you did not solve the problems during your tenure as federal minister. You had the authority and should have resolved the issues.”
“I was separated from the case over the collision of interests,” replied Asif. “You were isolated but could have conducted the probe into the matter,” said Chief Justice.
“A commission headed by Rehmat Ali Jaffery was formed. It directed to complete the work on Nandipur and Chichu Ki Malia,” told Khawaja Asif.
“The commission had also fixed responsibilities. You had filed a plea in 2011. Now seven years have passed. What has been left in the petition for hearing after all these years. You have made Wapda and Pepco parties in the case,” remarked SC.
“Nandipur project has been completed and working for the past five years,” declared Khawaja Asif.
“You gave the contract of Nadipur project to a Chinese company but according to rules you cannot do this,” maintained the CJP.
“The project has not been alloted on contract. Its ownership belongs to the government,” answered Asif.
“A prominent personality has been mentioned in your petition in paragraph 11. You have accused him of delaying the project,” asked Justice Umer Ata Bandial.
“Yes it is right and the commission also approved this incident. The cost of the project increased due to the delay,” told Asif.
Nandipur Power Project: NAB Chairman Orders Investigation
The accountability bureau directed the probe in light of a Supreme Court order to examine corruption allegations with reference to the findings of the one-man commission of former Justice Rehmat Hussain Jafri on the Nandipur power project.
As per a notification issued by the anti-graft watchdog, the NAB chairman asked director general NAB Lahore to conduct the investigation.
A three-judge Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had ordered NAB to probe alleged corruption in the power project on June 7.
During the proceedings, the CJP asked how long the file related to the project would remain pending in the law ministry.
