It is pertinent to mention here that the CJP had given deadline to the fugitive Karachi Police SSP Rao Anwar to appear before the court on Friday after he requested the court to grant him protective bail and form a new JIT into the issue as he had no confidence in the old JIT team led by SSP CTD Rana Sanaullah.

When the court proceedings on Friday began, the chief justice asked if Rao Anwar had come to the court. The IGP Sindh AD Khwaja responded that the Rao Anwar had not appeared before the court. On this, the chief justice said that Rao Anwar had wasted a precious opportunity as we had also granted him a protective bail. He, however, said that they would wait for the police officer as he could come late.

The CJP further remarked that it was the responsibility of the police to arrest the fugitive SSP Malir. “We had also asked the other agencies to help police in finding the accused in this case,” he said.
